Gospel Cafe — Japan
The Gospel Cafe Project is a cafe ministry project in Kyoto, Japan, which will function to break down the existing cultural barriers and act as a bridge between the Japanese church and culture. The cafe will work alongside a Japanese national church in Muko City (a suburb of Kyoto). Of this city’s 60,000 people, less than 0.2% are Christians—yet they drink the most coffee per capita in Japan. The Gospel Cafe ministry seeks to create a safe space to begin conversations with the neighborhood about spiritual matters while at the same time connecting them with Christians at a local church. The funds from this project will cover the start-up costs, as well as the first year’s operating budget.
