A Vision for Healing in Mizoram

A Vision for Healing in Mizoram

Earlier this month, Global Partners Health Network led a small medical team from Parkway Church in Roanoke, Virginia to the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram to explore a potential medical ministry partnership with the Wesleyan Church of Mizoram.

During the visit, the team connected with church leaders to discuss the vision for a future clinic that could provide affordable healthcare for refugees from neighboring Myanmar as well as local community members. Conversations focused on understanding the needs, exploring what sustainable services might look like, and praying together for God’s direction. The team also traveled through parts of Mizoram to better understand the refugee situation firsthand, gaining insight into the challenges families face in accessing consistent medical care.

Since the team returned, the Wesleyan Church of Mizoram has already taken encouraging steps forward. Church leaders have appointed a Medical Ministry Board made up of local healthcare professionals and church elders to guide planning for the clinic. They have also identified and begun negotiating for a piece of land in the town of Champhai that could serve as a site for the clinic, a church, and housing for church members — an integrated vision that supports both ministry and long-term community development.

The progress since the visit highlights strong leadership and a shared sense of purpose. GPHN looks forward to continued collaboration with Parkway Church and the Wesleyan Church of Mizoram as land is finalized and the resources are developed that will turn this vision into a life-giving clinic for refugees and the broader community.
