La Gonave Wesleyan Hospital, located on the island of La Gonave off the coast of Haiti, provides health services to the 120,000 people living on the island. Its staff of 100 Haitian caregivers works tirelessly to provide emergency services, maternity and newborn care, surgical services and more. All while shining the light and love of Jesus Christ.
Unfortunately, due to widespread poverty in Haiti, healthcare workers throughout the country are not always given the compensation they deserve. Many patients simply do not have the ability to pay for the care they receive so nurses and other staff often make less than $200 per month. That’s where the Global Partners Health Network comes in.
Through our Caring for Caregivers project, we are able to supply these committed, hardworking caregivers with an end-of-year bonus, to help assist with the financial hardships they might be facing, and to show that their work is valued and appreciated.
This bonus is such a blessing for caregivers like head nurse, Miss Vero, Dr. Berly, a pediatrician, Pastor Bertrand, the hospital chaplain and all the others who work tirelessly to make the hospital a beacon of health and hope on the island.
As this year begins to wind down and we near the season these bonuses will be distributed, we’re inviting you and your church to consider supporting Caring For Caregivers. Help us bless our brothers and sisters at La Gonave Wesleyan Hospital.
