Cultivate a Passion for God’s Mission in the Heart of Every Child

Did you know that Global Partners has free resources for your church’s children’s ministry?

We believe that it’s crucial to begin teaching children about God’s mission from the very beginning. Over time, this cultivates a heart for the nations, an understanding of the Great Commission and could ultimately lay the foundation for their involvement in God’s mission.

We’re so thankful for the passion and legacy of the Wesleyan Kids For Missions (WKFM) curriculum. About two years ago, Global Partners took inspiration from some of that curriculum and created a new year-long plan featuring current missionaries. We also outlined additional activities, and included coloring pages, videos and podcasts that might be helpful, too.

All of this is available for anyone involved in children’s ministry – or even for parents, aunts and uncles.

Barb Good, who has helped pull WKFM together for The Wesleyan Church in the past, expressed much excitement when she noticed the resurgence of the curriculum. As someone who has a passion for teaching children about God’s mission at her church, Community Wesleyan Church of Baldwinsville, New York, she hopes that every Wesleyan church will prioritize this focus as well.

Each month, she helps teach the children at her church about the missionaries Community Wesleyan supports. They work on memory verses, songs, review questions, play games and go over a Bible lesson relating to missions.

They’re also sure to show the children photos and updates from the missionaries their church supports. And an all-time favorite occurrence is when visiting missionaries are able to pop by to spend time with the children, too.

“My goal is that each of our church’s children will have a heart for missions,” Barb wrote. “Many missionaries have been called to be a missionary when they were a child.”

Terri Carter, from Living Hope Wesleyan Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has also been utilizing the resources.

“[It’s] been a great help to me this year. Having lessons available that contain a Bible story, activities and information from missionaries makes teaching easier,” Terri wrote. “ … The children get excited when the featured missionary is one that has visited our church.”

We hope that you’ll enjoy these resources, too – and that you’ll continue cultivating a love for the 4 in 10 people who live without access to the Gospel, in the heart of every child.
