Extending our Reach: The Hope of Launching New Fields
In our world today, more than 4 in 10 people still lack access to the Gospel.
As we look ahead, Global Partners has a vision to open new mission fields in some of the most unreached areas around the world — because everyone deserves to hear the Good News about Jesus Christ!
Asia-Pacific Area
Daniel*, a Global Partners missionary serving East Asia, is not only exploring new potential fields, he also helped start the field he’s currently serving in East Asia.
There, he began practicing medicine in an international clinic, and then trained family practice doctors. By limiting his hours of seeing patients in the clinic, Daniel* was able to dedicate focus on charitable work (serving orphanages, village clinics and nursing homes) alongside the doctors he helped train. The charitable work helped build a bridge to house churches to evangelize, disciple and plant more churches.
This is the model he hopes to replicate elsewhere in Asia. His dream is that by 2030, there would be some kind of medical platform in three countries where we don’t currently have any work with the Wesleyan Church.
This is a big dream – one strewn with challenges along the way.
“There are a lot of closed doors, mistakes, failure, a lot of people saying ‘no’ or laughing at you … but if you try 10 things and one of them works, one is still more than zero,” he said.
He’s excited for these future possibilities, especially as he reflects back on all the seemingly impossible things he witnessed God do, while serving in East Asia.
Turkic-Arabic Area
Luke*, a GP missionary leading the Turkic- Arabic area, also helped start the field he is serving. And now he’s casting vision for new fields in this area.
So far, he has started exploring two locations that are both highly populated and unreached – places that have a population of at least 30-40 million people, and are more than 95% Muslim.
These are locations that have had their “doors closed” for a long time. Visas haven’t been attainable, there have been laws against evangelizing and so on. But recently, these obstacles are beginning to fade, creating an openness among the people there.
“They’ve (Turkic-Arabic locals) been in oppression for so long, and now some of them are realizing ‘we can actually talk about the gospel’ … and there actually is a curiosity because of it,” Luke* explained.
Even with a lot of unknowns and a long road ahead, Luke* said they are preparing to send someone to serve in the Turkic-Arabic area, who will eventually go to help start this new work, with a couple not too far behind.
All of these new works will be challenging and costly to launch – will you join us?
Will you consider setting up a monthly recurring? With your support, we can bring a hope-filled life with Jesus to people around the world.
