GO Global: The World Has Changed, but Has Your Missions Strategy?
It is possible to care a great deal about missions but still feel just a step behind.
The world keeps shifting. The ways people are called, sent, funded, trained and sustained all change over time. Always have, always will. It’s about adapting:
- We have to adapt to every new generation asking different questions than the last.
- We have to adapt to churches feeling the pinch from a lot of different asks at the same time.
- We need to adapt to marketplace professionals wondering if they need to quit their career if they have a nudge to the nations.
Those are just a few examples, all showing that churches still want to reach the nations, but many leaders are wondering where to begin, what works, what is failing and what assumptions might need to change for everyone involved.
That is why a group from Global Partners launched GO Global. Using their missional expertise, they designed an event to gather pastors, lay leaders, missions advocates and ordinary people with an extraordinary concern for the world in one room to do this kind of stuff:
- Hear honest stories
- Share fresh ideas
- Offer practical tools
- Rethink our assumptions
- and of course, have some actual back-and-forth conversation!
GO Global is designed as a one-day event for church leaders who want to become more intentional and effective in global outreach. Throughout the day we move through four important questions: Why does global mission matter now? Who might God already be nudging? How can our churches equip and send them well? And, what should we do next?
I dig that this event is simple enough to describe in three words: Gather. Engage. Send.
You will gather with other leaders who want to become more intentional about global outreach. You will engage with practitioners, emerging models and conversations about what is happening around the world. Then you will leave better prepared to send, support, pray, partner and participate with more clarity.
We tested the model out for this event twice in 2025 and it confirmed something we suspected: church leaders are hungry for this conversation. They do not need more fog or guilt or pressure. They need a clearer view of the world, a few trustworthy dialogue partners, and, of course, having next steps they can actually take are always kind of nice, right?
Several GO Global events are already scheduled, with more on the way. Go to this event page to see whether one is coming near you. If there aren’t any in the works near you, you can also inquire on that very page about hosting one in your church, district, or region in the coming year.
The mission of God is not shrinking. Our vision should not be shrinking either. Let’s GO Global!
