May the Unexpected Become Common

May the Unexpected Become Common

The Nune field has been an active Global Partners mission field for about 14 years. During this time, many teammates have come and gone, and thousands upon thousands of seeds have been sown. We long to hear the name of Jesus proclaimed from the lips of our Muslim cousins here in Central Asia.

SEVEN NUNE PEOPLE CAME TO FAITH IN JESUS IN 2019!

This past year held a great number of transitions for us as a team, and we’ve put our noses to the grindstone to see the gospel go forth. Not many Nune people have been interested in following Jesus. So, the entire mission team was surprised and overjoyed to see seven people come to faith in Jesus in 2019!

Though many things that our team loved changed over the past 12 months and the city itself continues to evolve, there are still some things that remain. The desperate need for this city to hear the good news and to know the overwhelming love that God has for all people remains the same.

ONE OF THE TWO IS LYING TO ME — THE KORAN OR THE BIBLE. I NEED TO FIND OUT WHICH ONE!

Last fall, a man called us and asked us to teach him about salvation. We have met with him many times. We pour over the Scriptures together, searching out the truth and try to understand what God has to say to us. The man read the whole Bible twice in less than three weeks. He highlighted items that stuck out to him. He laughed, cried, and was horrified by the evil that is written in some of the stories. He said several times how different the Bible was from the many other holy books that he has read. The last time that we met, he held up his hands and said, “One of the two is lying to me — the Koran or the Bible. I need to find out which one!” Conversations like this are incredibly rare. Each time we think of him, we praise God for this opportunity. We also beg the Holy Spirit to continue to move in this man’s heart.

As we begin 2020, we pray that the “unexpected” may be as common as it was in 2019.t
