WHEN OUR PLANS FAIL, GOD’S STORY PREVAILS

In January of 2015, I got a phone call from Global Partners saying “I’m really sorry, we don’t have an overseas placement for you this summer. But you could come to our office and intern with the Mobilization team, if that would interest you.” I needed an internship to finish my Intercultural Studies degree from Kingswood University. I knew God wanted me to be a missionary, but through this unexpected experience, I came to understand His greater desire to see all His children participate in the Great Commission.

Saying yes to a summer interning with the mobilization team led me to walk through the doors of the Global Partners headquarters in Indiana for the first time. In God’s timing, this internship is what would ultimately lead me to teach English in Mongolia for two years.

Now, in a full circle moment that only God Himself could orchestrate, I’m returning to Global Partners to officially join the Mobilization team as a Regional Mobilizer! Working from Buffalo, New York, I get to be an agent helping other people be a part of fulfilling the Great Commission as well.

Living in Mongolia taught me many things I wouldn’t have learned if I hadn’t gone; and allowed me to share Jesus with people who might not have had the chance otherwise. As I come back to the Mobilization team, I now have the privilege of providing those experiences with even more people, and I can’t wait to see how God changes lives.

As I look back on this series of events in my life, I see a grand story that God has been writing and will continue to write. I’m reminded time and time again that even when things don’t go the way I’ve planned and they don’t make sense, God sees a bigger, beautiful story.
